Tzedek Intern

Stephanie Pronin
I am a senior BBA Accounting major from Houston, TX! I have been involved with Tzedek since I started at UT and I hope you will get involved too (If you aren't already!) Please read about the projects I am directly affiliated with below. Please contact me if you have any questions about any aspect of Tzedek at UT or within the international Hillel realm. Check out www.hillel.org for information on the Charlotte and Jack J Spitzer B'Nai B'Rith Hillel Formum on Public Policy Feb 27-Mar 1 in Washington, DC. It is an amazing conference and if you are interested in going to DC, learning more about different issues, lobbying with your Senator or Representative, or just want to meet people from Hillels everywher!!
Texas Hillel invites you to meet some of our Texas State senators! Texas Hillel is creating a proposal to present to the Texas state senate committee of education. The propsal will ask for funding for a full time mentoring coordinator position at all public school campuses in the state of Texas. Mentoring has proven effective to lower dropout rates, gang activity, drug use, and more. By having a staff member at each school to coordinate a program between community members and students in elementary, middle, and high schools, mentoring can continue, grow, and be around indefinitely! This advocacy campaign needs you! Please contact me if you are interested.
Training Wheels is an awsome program to meet other Jewish families in Austin! Volunteer one Sunday morning a month or one Tuesday afternoon a month at the JCA (Dell Jewish Community Association of Austin). You will work with children ages 2-5 and help them create arts and crafts projects related to the upcoming holiday. The parents are with them all the time. You will be asked to watch the children for fifteen minutes while the parents have a short meeting! I hope you can make it. Please see the community happenings link on the website for the dates! |
Ronald McDonald House Co-Chairs

Kenny Rosenberg
Hey, I'm Kenny, one of the Ronald McDonald House Chairs. I'm an MIS major from Houston, and I enjoy cooking, especially when I know someone is going to truly appreciate it.
I've been cooking at the RMD house for three years now, and every time I go, I know that I made life a little bit easier for families going through rough times. Having met some of the families staying there, I can see how a simple caring gesture, like a home-cooked meal, can cheer you up when you need it the most.
If you would like to help cook dinner, go grocery shopping, or just provide your favorite recipe for large groups send me an e-mail! Cooking dinner is both rewarding and tons o'fun.

Adrienne Sack
Hi, I'm Adrienne. I co-chair Ronald McDonald House cooking wtih Kenny. I'm a Senior Psychology/ Latin/ Plan II major(s). Aside from cooking, I enjoy crazy art projects, Scrabble, and recreational nappying. Kenny summed up what I had to say about RMD in his blurb, so I shall save you the effort of reading it twice. But yes, RMD is awseome, and I'd love to hear from you. |

Crazy Science Extravaganza Chairs
| Keren Hilgendorf
Crazy Science is about making science fun for middle school kids by showing them that science is not just books and lectures, but rather making and blowing up things. We set up booths that vary from dissection to liquid nitrogen and allow students to learn and have fun at the same time.
I am a second year Cell- and Molecular Biology Major in the Deans's Scholoars Honors Program. While I have been living in Austin for over three years now, I was born in Israel and grew up in Germany. This is my first leadership position at Hillel, but I have been volunteering at CSE and Tzedek events in general the past year and went on the Alternative Spring Break Trip to Argentina and Uruguay.
